"our son was
born in a hosp and needed to stay 5 days for observation. we
opted instead to bring sage into the hosp every day to get
checked. during that time, we were present for a handful of
circumcisions. this guy (looked and dressed like capt. kangaroo)
came into the nursery and did it right there. at least he had the
courtesy of closing the window blinds first. my husband and son
and I were in the nursery, in a closed room waiting to see the
pede each day. the first time there was a circ, the piercing
cries and screams of the baby made us all cry. we were not able
to watch but the sounds were heartbreaking and haunting. the next
time we requested a radio to block out the cries of the baby but
that baby did little more than squeak after the initial screaming
and before it was over the baby was red faced and obviously
terrified. his mouth was open but no sound came out. all we could
do each day was hold our son tightly and gape at each other.
there is no way I would ever subject any child of mine to such
horror and pain. I could not imagine doing that after carrying
him in my body for nearly a year, loving and nurturing him in
every way. his penis is his and not mine. my children are gifts
to me and I took care to grow them as well as I could in order to
give them bodies and minds that will serve them perfectly for the
length of their lives. I cannot justify altering them because of
my opinion of how they should look."
"Your description is very accurate. I have assisted with
about 200 and I have seen sleeping babies not wake up as I gently
strapped them to the table. One even slept through the betadine
and that is cold stuff. So it is not the restriction that is the
problem. They take a metal probe - similar to the one the dental
hygienist scales teeth with - and separate the foreskin from the
glans. Babies scream so hard that they end up with their faces
red and mouths wide open with no sound coming out. I had to hold
their heads to the side because some vomit from the pain. I
always had to get close to their faces and stroke their cheeks
because they would stop breathing. The doc puts a bell over the
foreskin and slides a sterile safety pin through a hole and then
through the skin. He cuts with a blade for what seems like an
eternity for this baby and deposits the skin o the sterile tray.
The penis is RAW - I often thought it must feel like a 3rd degree
burn with alcohol being poored over it.
Consoling is impossible. They shake and their eyes are wide open
with panic. Yes, I felt horrible every time. I never got used to
it. Each procedure looked as barbaric as the next. Many too much
skin was taken off or too little (not worth all that torture). I
have seen infections, too. The risk of any invasive procedure
even with sterile fields.
I get calls from moms who had no problems with breastfeeding and
suddenly have trouble. If it is a baby boy, I try to remember to
ask when and if he was circumcised. Many of my consults are a
result of trauma from the circs. The babies state of homeostasis
is so messed up from the stress that they are no longer able to
suck. Every IBCLC (lactation consultants) that I know will tell
you how circumcision is a major source of feeding problems in the
days following.
It is simple. If I had not seen circumcisions in person I would
have done it. Even after all those circs - I thought I would do
it except with anesthetic. I thought there was a health benefit
and it was pleasing to me aesthetically (now I think intact is
more pleasing to the eye - my husband even wants his back!) When
we decided to research the topic when I was actually pregnant -
we also learned of the functions of the foreskin and the health
benefits. It was enlightening. Two weeks after my son's birth we
made our final decision. We took our time - we were pretty
objective and we are both very capable of determining the
validity of studies. It doesn't take a person well versed in
statistics to read the information anyway. Reviewing the
evolution and history of circumcision, studying the function of
the foreskin and witnessing at least one is enough to cure ANYONE
of believing in the procedure. I am sorry you had to see that in
the nursery. I can still feel it in my stomach."
"Every year more than one million American infants undergo an operation that the American Pediatric Association declared unnecessary more than a decade ago. With the exception of episiotomy, circumcision is the most common unnecessary surgery performed in the United States. Doctors, midwives and parents have an obligation to stop this contraindicated procedure. There is no reason to keep this cruelty alive. If you doubt this ask yourself this question: why are children fastened to an elaborate immobilizing device called a circumstraint which holds the infant down as he screams?" -http://www.compleatmother.com/circ.htm
"More and more men who were circumcised as infants are "feeling a sense of resentment that their right to their normal body, given that nothing was diseased, nothing needed to be removed, was violated, and permanently," -Dr. Robin Walker, chief of neonatology at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario)
No matter what you may know or how you may feel about circumcision, one thing is undeniable. When performed on a helpless, non-consenting child it becomes an inexcusable form of infant genital mutilation. This terrible form of sexual abuse is not only crude and senseless, but also a highly barbaric form of genital desexualization and by legal definition it is an absolute violation of our childrens' legal rights. This site is the result of my ever-continuing efforts to provide accurate and relative information to those expressing an interest in this controversial topic. It is my hopes that the information contained herein will serve you (and possibly your children) well.

A Coquitlam man who suffered for decades because of a botched
circumcision has had his foreskin restored, thanks to B.C.
taxpayers. Paul Tinari said that, since his surgery in May, he's
out of pain and enjoying sex in ways he never could before.
"It worked out really, really well," he said.
"It's totally functional. It works better."
Tinari, 48, is one of the first men in Canada to have the
government pick up the tab for this surgery. The B.C. Health
Ministry paid for 90 per cent of his $12,000 bill and Tinari
hopes it will set a precedent for other men.
"I really wanted them to cover [my surgery] and it would be
preferable if they would cover other people, as well," he
said.
Foreskin reconstruction had been a lifelong quest for Tinari, who
told The Province he was circumcised at age eight by priests at a
Montreal boarding school as punishment for masturbating.
In Victorian times, some physicians believed amputation of the
foreskin was a way to prevent the "ills of
masturbation."
"It was on a desk," said Tinari, describing how he was
held down to perform the procedure without pain medication.
"They removed so much skin, there was not enough to
accommodate an erection," said Tinari, who has since become
an advocate for banning non-consensual circumcision.
As a kid, he thought erections were meant to be painful "as
a punishment from God."
Tinari also suffered chronic skin infections and said intercourse
was painful at times.
Tinari, who is an avid runner, would even get salt burns on his
penis as a result of sweat.
"Every single day, I was in pain and this was totally
unnecessary," he said, adding that other men he talked to
had similar problems.
Tinari, who holds
a PhD in engineering, decided to become an expert. He researched
circumcision for 30 years and considered foreskin restoration,
but the cost stood in his way.
Then Tinari found the backing of health professionals. His
psychologist said he would benefit and his urologist called his
circumcision "one of the worst" he'd ever seen.
Tinari discovered Toronto plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Stubbs,
whose work on genitalia is widely recognized.
"There is no specific fee code in the [Medical Services
Plan] billing system for this type of procedure," said a
Health Ministry official. "In rare and extenuating
circumstances, the ministry may provide coverage."
Tinari's surgery was a two-part procedure and he spent about four
weeks recovering.
He said that surgery has improved his sex life, he is no longer
irritated by his clothing and running is more comfortable.
"I heartily encourage other men who are unhappy with their
circumcisions to go ahead and do this the way I did," said
Tinari.
Details of Tinari's operation were reported in the June 2006
National Review of Medicine.

Congratulations to Paul
Tinari for persevering and ultimately triumphing over the
lifelong punishment of circumcision.
No medical society in the
world condones circumcision of children. Most declare it
unnecessary surgery and doctors are forbidden by law from
performing unnecessary surgery on children.
Circumcision is the amputation of healthy, highly erogenous
sexual tissue that belongs to only one person, the one to whom it
is attached. Thanks to The Province for helping expose the
medical fraud and sexual abuse inherent in this act.
We are a step closer to a world in which every child's right to
genital integrity is protected.

About Your Beliefs
If you have arrived at this page and believe that there are any benefits to infant male circumcision or that it is your right as a parent to impose this surgery on your child, you have not gained sufficient information to totally understand the issue. I recommend that you continue your educational process as the information contained here may be disturbing.
About Circumcision
Routine circumcision of infant males is a uniquely American practice. It started in the 1870's with the purposeful intent to reduce the sexuality of it's victim to reduce the instinct to masturbate. It is now known that the manipulations that male children perform to their genitalia is instinctual and a method to loosen the prepuce which is firmly adhered to the glans at birth, much as the fingernails are adhered to the nail beds. It is now known that circumcision does not reduce masturbation but instead, increases the urge to perform it by about 40%. Since then circumcision has been touted to prevent or cure a long list of maladies, all of them patently false. Now the medical profession endorses this sexually crippling procedure as a cultural practice. It is the only surgical procedure that a physician will perform that is contrary to all current medical science and is the only one that will be performed merely at the request of parents on a non defective part of the body of an infant.
Whose Rights?
Parents argue it is their right to have this crippling surgery performed on their sons. The medical profession endorses this belief through it's continued practice of the procedure. Ultimately, the right is that of the person who will have to live his entire life in that modified body. There is no urgency or benefit that this procedure should be done at birth. If the adult man wants this for himself, the procedure is quick, requiring an in office procedure taking about 30 minutes. It is far safer for an adult. There is no record of an adult man dieing from a circumcision. There are many cases of infants dieing from the procedure. There should be no pain for the adult and there is extreme pain from the infant procedure because infants are extremely sensitive to anaesthesia and can not be given adequate amounts to make the procedure pain free. Adults can be given pain management medication and infants never are and suffer pain for 10 days to 2 weeks. The recovery period for adult circumcision is very quick. Adult circumcision is elective at the request of the man but the infant has no say in the matter. For a parent to say they have the right to authorize a procedure that contradicts every medical association in the world, has no benefit and in fact causes harm and has no immediacy, proves that the parent and the medical profession have no understanding of the issues and harm. Studies have shown that 20% of circumcised men would not choose it for themselves and only 3% of intact men will choose circumcision as an elective procedure. With the cultural pressure absent, only a fraction of a percentage of intact men would actually undergo the procedure. Circumcision is clearly against the wishes of most men.
How Do We Get The Message Across?
The internet has made great strides in presenting parents with truthful information. However, with almost 400 million people to educate, any effort has dubious effect and will take many years. A physician endorses it merely by asking a parent if they want the procedure. Any comment about possible benefits, no matter how questionable and rare is a further endorsement. Since there is excellent communication in the medical community through associations and malpractice insurers, a few well orchestrated and placed legal actions will receive tremendous attention and will act as an educational process for the entire industry. This will be the most effective and quickest acting action possible while negatively affecting the fewest number of lives. When England's public health system stopped paying for circumcisions, the practice quickly faded. This will have the same effect.
Circumcision And The Law
There are various laws that protect every American but these laws often are not properly applied and must be challenged in the courts for all individuals to enjoy their protections. Women, minorities and religious groups have had to challenge the application of these laws in the courts to get equal rights or protections of these laws. Circumcision is the only surgical procedure that is allowed to remove or modify perfectly formed and normal structures from the body of an infant for non beneficial reasons. Any other cosmetic or elective procedure is ethically reserved until the individual can give consent. Infant males can not give consent and these protective laws will be challenged in court for equal application to males as well as females. The amputation of a normal body part with out consent is assault and battery. Protection from assault and battery will be challenged. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution Of The United States is known as the Civil Rights Amendment. The last sentence in this amendment is called the "Equal Protection Clause" and gives equal protection of all classes of citizens to any law passed in the United States. In 1996, the Congress of the United States passed the law commonly known as the "Female Genital Mutilation Law" that protects all minor females from unnecessary genital surgical modification. That males should be included under this law under the Equal Protection Clause will be asserted in the courts. It will be a civil rights issue and should it be upheld by the courts, it will be a felony violation to perform a non medically indicated circumcision on a minor male. Violation of the law will result in monetary damages and possibly prison time. When this happens, it will become as difficult to have a circumcision preformed on a male as it now is for a female.
What Is Frank's Fund?
Statute of Limitation Laws routinely limit the window for pursuing a circumcision case to three years for the parents and three years from the 18th birthday for the victim. Many young parents do not have the funds to pursue one of these cases and almost none of the 18 year old men are able. Frank's Fund is to change this by providing the funds for these people to pursue their cases on a revolving basis. Money advanced is in the form of a loan. The loan is forgiven for cases not won. If the courts award damages, the plaintiff repays the loan plus a percentage of the award. This money then revolves to the next case. The benefactor and founder of this fund increases each donation by a matching amount of 50%. The intent of the fund is to get the attention of circumcisers and their medical malpractice insurers. A few well placed suits will achieve this goal whether the suits are won or lost. When medical malpractice insurance no longer covers the surgeon, the surgeon will no longer provide the service and that's the end of infant male circumcision in America.

TO CUT OR NOT TO CUT
According to the Canadian Paediatric Society, of
every 1,000 boys who are circumcised:
- 20 to 30 will have a surgical complication,
such as too much bleeding or infection in the
area.
- Two to three will have a more serious
complication that needs more treatment. Examples
include having too much skin removed or more
serious bleeding.
- Two
will be admitted to hospital for a urinary
tract infection before they are one year old.
- 10
babies may need to have the circumcision
done again because of a poor result. (Circumcision IS
a poor result.. -Ed.)
- Of every 1,000 boys who are not circumcised,
seven will be admitted to hospital for a urinary
tract infection before they are one year old.

Circumcision
= Genital Mutilation = Child Abuse
QUESTION:
Are you a woman? Try to imagine being involved in some type
of accident - perhaps a car crash. You survived, but your upper
body was horribly cut, torn, and disfigured. Your breasts had to
be amputated, and you've been left with massive scars, with very
little - if any - of your breasts remaining. How would you feel
about yourself - physically, emotionally, psychologically? Now,
how about instead of an accident, picture that someone had
deliberately maimed and mutilated you shortly after you were
born. Just because they could do it .. because you were a
helpless baby, unable to stop them. How would you feel about
THAT?
QUESTION: Are you a man? Are you
normal/intact? You're a very lucky man! You already know that 95%
of all the erogenous, pleasure-producing nerves in your penis are
contained in the foreskin. Are you circumcised? Have you
ever stopped to think about that -- the most wonderful part of
your body - your penis - has been mutilated? Do you realize that
the most pleasurable part of your body - your foreskin - has been
cut off and thrown away?
QUESTION: Are you a parent? When your child
was born, did you think about having one of his toes cut off? Did
you ask the doctor to snip off your baby's earlobes? Or poke out
his eyes? Then how can you tell the doctor to mutilate your son's
penis? How can you tell the doctor to amputate the most
wonderful, most sensitive, most pleasurable part of your son's
body - his foreskin? How can you sexually lobotomize your child,
and still look yourself in the mirror? How can you justify
destroying your child's future sexual well-being? How can you
call yourself a loving parent? A parent's first duty is to
PROTECT one's child .. NOT to hurt him, NOT to maime him!
You don't mutilate your daughters - why do you mutilate your sons ?
It's perfectly acceptable for a woman to
feel physically, emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically
devastated when confronted with the loss of one or both of her
breasts, as the result of cancer for example. Why then is it
so hard to understand the same response, the same feelings of
loss, the anger and the horrific feelings of betrayal, in a man
who has had the most beautiful, most sensitive, most pleasurable
part of his body ripped apart, mutilated, and permanently
disfigured?
"Here's what happens thousands of times each day in American hospitals: A newborn baby boy is strapped down to a board (such as a Circumstraint, pictured below); a clamp is applied to pull back and crush his foreskin; and then, while he screams and struggles in vain to escape or passes out from shock that piece of sensitive penile tissue I mentioned is sliced from his tiny penis without anesthesia, and, obviously, without his permission.
Can you imagine an adult male allowing this to be done to his genitals? As one of my regretfully circumcised friends says, "If those little babies were as big as the doctors who cut on them, there would be a lot of beat-up doctors in this country."
Excerpt from "Circumcision in America: The First Cut Is the Deepest"

Olympic Medical, the company which manufactures 'Circumstraint', boasts in its product literature:
"In less than 30 seconds a nurse can immobilize the struggling infant securely in the correct position with Circumstraint. Soft, wide Velcro straps encircle the infant's elbows and knees, depriving him of leverage. He's held securely without danger of escape. ...(E)levates the infant's hips, perfectly presenting the genitalia."
Call 1.800.426.0353 to voice your discontent, keeping in mind that each time you call they have to pay the toll.
"I looked away from his anguished eyes and saw the board they had strapped him to. It was made of hard plastic shaped in a sort of oval big enough for a newborn. The form had an indentation in the shape of a baby's head, body, arms and legs. There were straps attached to hold his arms, legs, and body down and motionless. Seeing that board further drove home to me that I had just made a terrible, terrible mistake. I wanted nothing more than to beg his forgiveness. When I finally put him to my breast he would not nurse. It would be two hours before he would accept this comfort, although he should have been ravenously hungry."

Circumcision: Cutting Remarks
By Farzad Roohi
http://www.mwillett.org/mind/circumcise.htm
Are you a male who, like me, has been circumcised? If you are, then I really need your empathy for what we are missing.
Try to make sense out of the following premises:
1. Perfection comes out of perfection.
2. God, as the creator of man's body, is perfect.
3. Therefore, man's body, as a creature of God, should be perfect.
Up until ten years ago, tonsillectomy for kids was routine surgery. The idea was that tonsils were not functional and useful after infancy; so, by removing them, we would actually prevent later infection and other side effects due to tonsillitis. Nowadays, tonsillectomy is no longer recommended as it once was. We now know that tonsils carry on as a part of the body's immune system even in adulthood. So, the functional value of tonsils is now appreciated to a greater extent.
The same is true about the appendix. As the name indicates, the appendix is an extended part of the gastrointestinal tract with no function in later stages of human life. So, let's get rid of it as we do with our extra clothes. In the past, when many patients had their abdominal cavity opened surgically for other problems, they asked their surgeons to remove the appendix as a prevention against later infection. Sure enough, this kind of appendectomy is not practiced anymore. Why? Because we now know that the appendix is not just a useless, vestigial part of the G.I. tract which can be excised and trashed. In fact, the appendix has an abundance of lymphatic tissue that serves to resist infection.
But how about the foreskin? Why did God or Mother Nature create man intact?
Recent studies reveal that the foreskin has twelve different and useful functions. Researchers have concluded that the foreskin has several kinds of nerves and should be considered a structural and functional unit made up of more or less specialized parts. Oh yes! This piece of skin, which is as big as a quarter, maintains many useful functions. Since the foreskin contains several kinds of specialized nerve endings, it indeed provides excellent, if peripheral, sensitivity for the penile head (glans) and shaft. Also, the foreskin protects the glans from abrasion and contact with clothes. Without the foreskin the glans skin, which is normally moist, mucous membrane, becomes dry, insensitive, and thickens considerably in response to continued exposure (think of the thick skin of your heel compared to your sensitive lip skin).
If you wish to know more about this mysterious piece of skin, just get into an Internet search engine (Yahoo would do the job) and type circumcision.
In English speaking countries circumcision started to be practiced routinely in the mid-1800s only because doctors at the time believed that circumcision prevents masturbation. And unfortunately, masturbation was considered to be responsible for many diseases, including epilepsy, tuberculosis and insanity. I may personally accept the idea that circumcision might have an adverse effect on masturbation, because by removing the most sensitive part of the male genitalia, one is left to deal with a much less sensitive penis.
There are some counter-arguments in favor of male circumcision, including the claim that circumcision prevents cancer of the penis and of the female partner's cervix and venereal diseases, all of which has been disproven. Scientists now know that the foreskin is a normal, sensitive, functional part of the body.
Do I, as a circumcised man, really know what I'm missing? I don't think so. After all, I have never been in Hawaii, so how could it be possible for me to miss Hawaii? However, according to one man who was circumcised as an adult, sex without a foreskin is like sight without color. Those who have not seen in color cannot appreciate what is lost.
Oh well!, I sigh.

This site has only a few comments about religious circumcision. First off, it is the authors opinion that it is your explicit right to believe any deranged theology that you want to. So, if you wanna believe in Allah / Jehova / Buddha (insert other mythical figure here) sactioned child molestation, then fine - believe away.
But know that your religion ends where your childs birthright begins.
Circumcision, FGM, and other mutilating practices carried out on infants has never been the product of any 'God'. Hey- there's alot of God Sanctioned abuse going on in our world. Just like in ancient days, 'God Ordained' tradgedies continue and are brought upon peoples everywhere in the name of one great religion or another, every one of them with their adherents and endless list of excuses. But this does not make any of it true. In fact I will go as far as saying that any religion that has ever condoned such abuse in the name of some God is probably in reality closer to hell than they think.
No matter what group you may belong, justifying mutilation in the name of some religion or deity is a cop-out. Things like this if anything should raise questions about a religions legitimacy! Cutting parts of a childs penis off just days after birth? Removing parts from a little girls vagina?? What the HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?? What kind of perverse insanity is this?? What, has suddenly happened to people's brains???
No wonder this planet will never really 'grow up'.
Call me what you'd like. I just know that my children would never be laid victim to myth-induced sexual perversions.
"When

and fears were confirmed while I was reading The

normal penis with all its nerve endings and moving parts. I began
to sob. I bought the book, raced home and read it from cover to

for three days. If my parents felt they had to MARK MY BODY in

BUTTOCKS WITH THE STAR OF DAVID or HAD A FINGER CUT OFF than to
have had my penis butchered. Bris milah is a tradition that
violates the most basic of all human rights, the right of every human being to
his or her own intact body. When I realized that Judaism cut me
off from part of myself, I cut myself off from Judaism. I reject
and denounce Judaism -- and any other religion that mandates
infant circumcision -- as sick, perverted and immoral. I would
find it difficult to forgive anyone who had any role in
permitting or carrying out my circumcision. Anyone who continues
to circumcise babies today should be tried and imprisoned. No one
-- no one
-- should be allowed to get away with this. CUT A BOY, GO TO
JAIL. PERIOD! I fantasize about revenge on the mohel who
circumcised me and take comfort in knowing he has probably died
of old age. One of the main reasons I'm active in the intact baby
movement is to vent my rage in a positive way and not end up in
prison. I've put a MOHEL=MENGELE sign across the back of my car,
along with the six anti-circumcision bumper stickers there
already. I make no apologies for what I've said. I'm not
anti-Jewish. I'm anti-circumcision. Anyone who can't see that bris milah
is wrong is blinded by history, tradition, and religious dogma."

A survey of women found that women are four times more likely to orgasm if their male partner has an intact foreskin.
So, screw with your son's foreskin, you screw with his future wife...
