Ironman
Lyrics: Steve King
Vocals Debbie Firman

My heart is pounding, my mind is numb
Thoughts are racing over what's to come
Ooooh this is it, what it's all been for
The countless hours of sweating pores
Countdown begins and the gun is fired
Like so many other I'm totally wired
Splashing and thrashing and swimming for space
There's no turning back, in the Ironman…

IRONMAN
IRONMAN
1 2 3 4, keeping in step, keeping in time
IRONMAN

Streaking to the water's edge, 2.4 is done
On to the bike, wheels start to spin, 112 begun
With a grimace I grind up the Richter Pass
Adrenalin's rushing I've ridden it through
Now onto the run 26.2
An out and back course with some hills and a view
Pounding and pacing in the IRONMAN

Back to town with the race nearly done
Voices and images willing me on
I've challenged the course, the swim, bike and run
Finished the race called the IRONMAN

The Cap Tex Tri

Welcome to the land of Lance,
the Lone Star State now linked with France.

Don't mess with Texas, keep Austin weird,
may make you think they should be feared.

But far from that, it's clear you'all
That's just a ruse - they do stand tall,
As the welcome mat is laid for all.

(chorus) Known for music, sport and spirits,
it treats us all to
Austin City Limits.

(chorus) But we return, as in we fly,
for Stevie Ray and the Cap Tex Tri.

Olympic, Sprint, first triers do,
Athenas, Clydes and relays too.
For on race day the thousands stake
their feet and gaze upon Town Lake.

A moments pause for Memorial Day,
the gunshot blasts,
they're underway.
Heading for the bridge of bats,
to Capital Ave and the timing mats.

Their Champion Chips will give the times
of their swim, bike and runs
But not fully tell the tale of the welcome mat.
From the Governor, from the Mayor,
from Brad, Rod, Drew, Rick and the Margiota man.
It's clear you'all,
I'm an Austin fan.

Paul and Sheila and the Carrozza team
have done it all, so it may seem.
The President's shoes may grace the wall,
but the accolades show so many sides -
Hall of Fame, Robin Williams' rides.
Shoes for the poor, Farm Aid cheques-
All part of the story of the stores Run Tex.
